welcome!
Well, this is messed up.
I think it’s unfair of YG to kick Hanbin out while keeping G-Dragon & TOP who were 100% confirmed to have taken drugs. I’m sorry if it sounds like I’m dragging them, I’m not, but I can’t help but mention them since their situations are so similar and they’re under the same company. I’m not saying that GD&TOP deserve to be kicked out, not in a million years. I love and respect them to bits, but if they got to stay, then so should Hanbin. Again, this is strictly about YG’s choices, it doesn’t actually have anything to do with GD&TOP. They’ve had their fair share of issues, both throughout their careers and as a result of their scandals.
I am not disappointed by Hanbin in the slightest. I will always love and support him and he’s been a major inspiration for me. He’s one of my favourite people in the world because he’s a wonderful human being, he’s kind and crazy talented, he has worked his ass off and endured a lot of pain at such a young age. I mean, can you even believe the amount of crap he’s been through? That makes makes me think that if he can do it, then hell, so can I. Seriously, the amount of respect I have for him is endless.
That being said, while I definitely understand where he’s coming from, I feel like he should have known better. I know he was in a dark place, I know it’s normal to have this kind of thoughts. Everyone thinks about this at a certain point in their life and it’s not a crime, but he’s a celebrity in South Korea, so he’s being held at much higher standards than, let’s say, a typical kid in this country or an American celebrity. Koreans can be cruel. They will judge idols and drag them through hell and back for the smallest things. He should have known that sooner or later, people would have found out about this and he’d be in trouble. I know it’s unfair and I hope the mentality will change (and maybe this situation will help), but that’s just how things are for now, unfortunately.
By the way, guys, take this as a lesson. Be careful what you do or say online or to your friends even as a joke, as it might get you in trouble later in life.
Also, take every article you read with a grain of salt. It’s easy to lie or fake evidence. We’ll never know what is actually going on, only Hanbin and those around him do. For example, the dealer was, at first, Mrs. A who then became Mr. A who is now Han Seo Hee. Another example, some articles say that YG paid the dealer to keep this a secret (which makes sense, as the company wouldn’t have wanted to tarnish their reputation 3 years ago) while other articles say that YG paid the dealer to reveal this secret in order to cover the Burning Sun scandal (which also makes sense) and if that’s the case, it’s seriously sick and infuriating.
Oh, and the timing could not possibly be worse. All of Hanbin’s solo variety shows were scheduled for this month which is very shady and Lee Hi is finally having a comeback after 3 years featuring Hanbin and this happens? She doesn’t deserve this and I hope it won’t affect her.
Ultimately, Hanbin doesn’t deserve this. It breaks my heart that he was at such a low point in his life that he considered doing this (which, by the way, I don’t condemn). But he’s a good person and I know things look up for him, for iKON and for us, iKONICS. We all just have to be patient and have faith.
Please, keep supporting him and the other members. And no matter what they decide to do next, their well-being is the most important thing.
And so is yours, so you guys take care of yourselves!
Also, I’d like to thank all non-iKONICS for their support. You rock!
And if I see one person attacking Hanbin or iKON, I will personally go over to their house and break their fingers. No joke.
